Experiences from the Field: Cover Cropping for Forage Systems
Â
At this online workshop we heard from Dr. Jillian Bainard with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada about livestock integration and the balances between risk and reward when incorporating cover crops into your rotation.Â
Local producer Erin Harris of Kootenay Meadows Organic Dairy in the Creston Valley shared their farm’s experiences incorporating cover crop rotations of fall rye into alfalfa stands and their learning curves about seeding rates, terminating cover crops and re-establishing pasture.Â
