Learning & Looking Ahead
2020 has certainly imposed on us many challenges, but let’s take a look at the positive for a moment… virtual field days! No longer are we tied to only to field days within a reasonable driving radius. Here’s a brief recap of our two virtual events this year, both hosted at Wild Flight Organic Farm in Mara, BC.
Your Burning Vegetable Storage Questions: Answered!

kbfa-A Look Back at the Virtual Field Days of 2020

Earlier this week, we got together with Hermann at Wild Flight Organic Farm to discuss winter crop storage. The field day gave us a look at the storage, humidity, air circulation, and temperature of specific vegetables.

During the virtual field day we discuss how to store this yield, which crops can be stored together and at what temperature. Get a behind the scenes look at Hermann’s strategies for storing his diverse and delicious crops from the season.

We discussed the storage temperatures of winter squash, vegetable roots, apple/pears, potatoes, and onion and garlic.

Farm Equipment for Your Holiday Wishlist

Earlier this season, we got together with Hermann for a tour of his favourite equipment. We were lucky enough to get live demonstrations of equipment use and a dynamic Q&A as well.

Equipment featured in this field day was a basket weeder, under cutter, potato digger and hiller.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift to get your favourite farmer this holiday season, check out the webinar and add a few pieces of machinery to your wishlist.
