Owner, operator and local rancher Devin Chursinoff helps a customer at his new butcher shop in Grand Forks.

The limited availability of cut and wrap services in the Kootenay and Boundary (and across the whole province) has been a limiting factor to expand production for many meat producers in the region. Granby Meat Co. in Grand Forks has just opened its doors and  is a welcome addition to the local community. The storefront acts as a butcher shop and vending outlet for local beef.

Newly opened in December 2022, this butcher shop is a collaboration of Devin Chursinoff, of Pa Van Ranch in Grand Forks, a multi-generational ranch with a cow/calf and hay operation, an experienced butcher, and a family who has a dreams to create opportunities for the local meat sector.

Granby Meat Co. is pleased with the community support so far. As is underlined by the Granby Meat Co. website: “Simply put, we are butchers by trade, ranchers at heart, and we have one simple aim: to provide our customers with top quality meat.”

Granby Meat Co. offers great a selection of meat and exceptional customer service

The ranching family secured a professional butcher to work at the shop as an integral part of the cut and wrap operation. This individual brings the retail experience from working in a grocery store to help the Granby Meat Co. operation with merchandising.

The cut and wrap serves local meat producers with professional butchering, an outlet for their products, and a space for residents to pick up local meat. Customers can find grab and go products, snacks like jerky, and custom cut premium meat products.

Custom infrastructure with lots of thought in design and capacity were considered when building Granby Meat Co. In this photo Devin Chusinoff stands in the hanging room at the back of the shop where local meat hangs before it is cut.
