Riparian Field Days
Grand Forks, Winlaw, Skookumchuck: September 13 – 15
Lee Hesketh of the Farmland Riparian Interface Stewardship Program (FRISP) and Gregoire Lamoureux of the Slocan Streamkeepers will inspire producers about simple solutions to protect their streambanks, protect land from erosion and identify sources of funding.

Low Till Market Garden: Part II Field Day
Winlaw: Thursday, September 15
Part II: Ravine Creek organic vegetable farm in the Slocan Valley has been practicing low tillage farming to manage weeds, build soil and retain moisture. Part I was held in the spring to discuss bed preparation, philosophy and management. Part II will see the results!

Seed Cleaning Tour in the Kootenays
Winlaw, Creston, Argenta, Nelson, Grand Forks: September 26 – 30
Save the date for FarmFolk CityFolk‘s annual Mobile Seed Cleaning Tour this fall. The mobile seed cleaner will visit Winlaw, Creston, Argenta, Nelson, and Grand Forks from September 26 – 30. These workshops discuss how to thresh, screen, and winnow! This is a great opportunity to clean seeds, facilitate seed saving collaborations, and ask questions about seed saving.

KBFA Field Day: Cover Crops for Building Soil and Growing Garlic
Attend this field day at Thistle Farm market garden to view and discuss their cover cropping program for disease prevention, weed suppression and building organic matter. Their greatest cover cropping success is the use of biofumigant mustards for disease prevention for commercial garlic production.
