Getting into Hog Production

Invermere, November 13
Verterinarian Dr. Kelsey Gray with Prairie Swine Health Services in Red Deer gave a three-hour workshop on hog production to 28 East Kootenay producers. Topics covered included pig health and disease management, nutrition, housing, finishing, breeds, body condition, flavour and quality, transportation, tagging, and more. The workshop was held next door to the newly constructed abattoir of the Windermere & District Famers’ Institute.
