Field Day: Season Extension for Market Gardens

Apple Quill Farm in Cranbrook has been growing and innovating for over a decade to produce a diversity of food including fruit, berries, greenhouse crops and poultry. Owners Michael and Marie-Eve have invested in technologies to extend their East Kootenay growing season including a heated greenhouse and a new in-soil heating project which has boosted their crop production. Berries are a cornerstone of Apple Quill’s business and they have had great success producing raspberries and strawberries in high tunnels for a long harvest season. At this field day, Michael shared his tips for variety selection and crop nutrition.
