Field Day: Cover Crops for Building Soil & Growing Garlic

Thistle Farm market garden and garlic farm discussed their cover cropping program for weed suppression, soil protection and building organic matter. Thistle Farm also discussed their use of with biofumigant mustard cover crops to manage soil pathogens before planting garlic crops and they have been happy with the results.
Other cover crops that Thistle Farm as been using include tillage radish, buckwheat, winter rye, oats and peas. Facilitated by FarmFolk CityFolk in partnership with KBFA.
